Tips for OET Reading

Students are always on a quest to improve their reading skills. To help students in OET reading, we have drafted the below few tips to help students improve their reading skill:

  1. IDENTIFYING THE KEYWORDS

This particularly applies to Part A of the reading. Identifying the keywords is applicable particularly in Part A of the reading. As soon as you see the clock start, initiate glancing at the texts and their headings for keywords that highlight their content. Look out for words that give you the identification of the settings, the key topic, or the time of the text.

  1. READ FREQUENTLY AND READ BROADLY

It is strongly recommended that the candidates lookout for the various medical writings and read them frequently which will give the required exposure to the type of language and writing structure that will come up in the exam. Along with the completion of a sufficient number of practice tests, getting used to medical writing styles is also very important.

  1. KEEP PROGRESSING

Students are usually baffled under time pressure for completing the reading and hence it is important that you are not afraid to progress in case you get stuck. After completing the rest of the task there is always an opportunity to come back to the questions with a relaxed mind to answer the same.

  1. TIME YOURSELF AND PRACTICE

As we all know, practice makes one perfect! Practice OET reading frequently keeping time in mind and getting used to the time limits.
